The easiest time to move in Dubai is a weekday in the middle of the month, between November and March. The weather is mild, building offices are open, and movers have more free crews than at month-end. If you care more about getting a date and room to negotiate than about comfort, the summer months (June to August) are usually quieter, but the heat changes how the day has to be run.
Three things decide most moving dates in Dubai: when your lease ends, what your building allows, and the calendar (heat, Ramadan, Eid and school terms). This guide takes them in that order and ends with a simple way to pick a date.
The short answer by goal
| What matters most to you | When to aim for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Comfortable weather | November to March, mid-month, Monday to Thursday | Ramadan in February and March 2027, and the New Year week |
| Getting your preferred date and crew | June to August, mid-month weekday | The midday outdoor work break and very hot loading bays |
| Least time off work | Saturday or Sunday, early start | Buildings that limit weekend moves, and booked lift slots |
| Families with school children | Early in the summer holidays, before mid-August | The late-August rush before the new school year |
How the year looks for a move
Demand for movers in Dubai follows the weather, lease cycles and school terms. Prices do not follow a fixed seasonal index, but when movers are busy you have less room to negotiate and fewer dates to choose from.
- November to March: the mildest months and the most popular for moving. Book earlier, especially for the last week of a month and around the New Year.
- April and May: warmer but still workable. Demand is steady. In 2027 these months come after Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr, which makes them a good window if you could not move in March.
- June to mid-September: very hot and humid. Many residents travel, so movers tend to have more open dates. Outdoor work stops at midday by law during this period (see below).
- Late August and September: families move before the new school year starts, so weekend and month-end dates fill up fast.
- October: the heat eases through the month and demand picks up again.
Moving in summer: open dates, hard conditions
Summer is the season when you are most likely to get the exact date and start time you want. The trade-off is the heat. Under the UAE's Occupational Heat Stress Prevention Policy, work under direct sunlight and in open areas is not allowed between 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm from 15 June to 15 September (the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced the 2026 dates in June). Loading a truck in an open car park or on the street counts, so a summer move has to be planned around that break.
- Start at 7 or 8 am so most of the outdoor loading is done before 12:30 pm.
- Ask the mover how it splits the day. A crew can keep working indoors, for example packing or reassembling furniture, while the truck waits.
- Keep electronics, candles, cosmetics, medicines and wine out of a parked truck in the afternoon. Take them in your own air-conditioned car.
- Have the air conditioning running at the new home before the first load arrives.
Which day of the week is best?
For most households a Monday to Thursday move is the easiest to run. Movers usually have more crews free midweek than on Saturdays, and building management offices, which issue move permits and sort out access cards and parking, keep weekday office hours. If a permit or access problem comes up on a Saturday, it may have to wait until Monday.
| Monday to Thursday | Friday | Saturday and Sunday | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mover availability | Usually the widest choice of dates | Good | The most requested days; book early |
| Building office | Open for permit or access problems | Usually open, with a break around Friday prayers | Often closed or on reduced hours |
| Building rules | Most buildings allow moves | Check the building's move hours | Some buildings limit or do not allow weekend moves |
| Time off work | One or two days of leave | Often half a day | None |
Some movers charge more for Saturdays and for the last days of the month. Others do not. The only reliable way to know is to ask each mover for the same move on two dates, one midweek and one at the weekend, and compare.
Month-end or mid-month?
Many Dubai leases start on the first of a month, so the last few days of every month are the busiest for movers and for service lifts. Moving between the 10th and the 20th usually means more free dates, an easier lift booking and less pressure on the day. If your new lease starts on the 1st, ask your landlord or agent whether you can collect the keys a few days early, or ask your current landlord about a short overlap. Even three or four days of overlap lets you pick a quieter date.
What time of day should the move start?
Start early. An 8 am start gives the crew a full day inside the building's permitted move hours, which in many towers end in the early evening. In summer, start at 7 am if your building allows it.
Road rules matter too. From 1 October 2026 Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority bars trucks from Sheikh Zayed Road and Beirut Street between 6 am and 10 pm, and closes urban roads such as Airport Street, Oman Street and Damascus Street to trucks from 6:30 to 8:30 am, 1 to 3 pm and 5:30 to 8 pm. Emirates Road is exempt. A moving truck may need a longer route or a later departure, so ask the mover how long the drive between your two addresses will take on the day and build that into the lift booking at the new building.
Ramadan, Eid and public holidays
Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin on or around Monday 8 February 2027, with Eid Al Fitr on 9 or 10 March, subject to the official moon sighting. Working hours are two hours shorter each day during Ramadan, so read our guide to moving during Ramadan in Dubai for the best times to schedule a move that month.
Around Eid Al Fitr, Eid Al Adha and the UAE National Day holiday in early December, many movers and building offices close or work reduced hours, and demand jumps on the working days either side. If your move falls within a few days of a holiday, book two to three weeks earlier than you normally would.
How far ahead should you book?
- A midweek date in a quiet month: one to two weeks is often enough.
- Weekends, the last week of a month, or late August and September: three to four weeks.
- Building permits and lift slots: follow your building's own lead time. Some towers want a week or more. Our guides to booking the service elevator and building management approval explain what to send.
Does the date change the price?
The date changes how much room you have to negotiate more than it changes the base price. Typical Dubai market ranges for a local move (loading, transport and unloading, without full packing) are:
| Home | Typical range |
|---|---|
| Studio | AED 800–1,200 |
| 1-bedroom apartment | AED 1,200–1,800 |
| 2-bedroom apartment | AED 1,800–3,000 |
| 3-bedroom apartment | AED 3,000–4,500 |
| 3-bedroom villa | AED 3,500–6,000 |
| 4-bedroom villa | AED 5,000–7,000 |
Typical Dubai market ranges, last checked October 2026. They are not prices offered by Movers Dubai. Where a quote lands inside the range depends mostly on volume, floor and lift access, distance and packing, not on the month. A busy date pushes quotes towards the top of the range and leaves less room to ask for extras. For more detail, see typical moving costs in Dubai.
A simple way to pick your date
- Write down the last day you can stay in the old home and the first day you can enter the new one.
- Ask both buildings for their move days, move hours and how far ahead they need the permit and lift booking.
- Check the calendar for Ramadan, Eid, public holidays and, if you have children, the school term.
- Pick a midweek date in the middle of the month inside that window, plus one backup date.
- Ask movers to quote for both dates so you can see whether the day changes the price.
When you have a date and a backup, request a free quote. Tell us about your move and we pass your request to a moving company that serves your area; the mover contacts you with its own price. If you are still deciding between movers, our page on home movers in Dubai explains what a home move usually includes.
Questions people ask
What is the cheapest month to move in Dubai?
There is no fixed cheapest month, because movers price each move on volume, floors, distance and packing. In practice the summer months, June to August, are usually the quietest, so you are more likely to get your preferred date and to negotiate. Ask two or three movers to quote the same move on two different dates to see the difference.
Is it better to move on a weekday or a weekend in Dubai?
A weekday is usually easier. Movers tend to have more free crews from Monday to Thursday, and building management offices are open if a permit or access card problem comes up. Weekends save you a day of leave, but they are the most requested days and some buildings limit weekend moves.
Can movers work in the afternoon in summer?
Not outdoors in the middle of the day. From 15 June to 15 September, work under direct sunlight and in open areas is not allowed between 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm. Crews can keep working indoors, so plan the outdoor loading for the morning and leave packing or reassembly for the break.
