Finding your tower: how JLT clusters work
JLT is laid out in clusters named by letter, most of them three towers on a shared podium and car park. Movers lose time when they arrive at the right cluster but the wrong tower, so give them the cluster letter, the tower name and the car park entrance that leads to your service lift.
Some towers are homes, some are offices and some mix both. In a mixed tower the service lift may be shared with office deliveries during working hours, so ask management when it is free for a residential move.
DMCC rules and your building's approval
DMCC's JLT site says the community is managed under DMCC's governance framework, but it does not publish a single move permit. In practice the approval comes from your tower's owners' association or building manager, who will want your tenancy documents and a lift booking. The DMCC and JLT permit guide and the building approval guide list the usual paperwork.
Moving a company between JLT towers or out of the free zone is a different job: IT, furniture and the landlord's fit-out rules. See office relocation for how those moves are planned.
Truck timing next to Sheikh Zayed Road
JLT lines Sheikh Zayed Road, which the RTA closes to trucks between 6 am and 10 pm from 1 October 2026. Ask your mover which vehicle it will use and how it will reach your cluster, and pick a lift slot that matches.
Typical JLT moving costs
Most JLT moves are studios and 1 or 2-bedroom flats. The ranges below are for Dubai as a whole; a long walk from the car park to the lift or a short lift window adds time.
| Home or job | Typical range |
|---|---|
| Studio apartment | AED 800–1,200 per move |
| 1-bedroom apartment | AED 1,200–1,800 per move |
| 2-bedroom apartment | AED 1,800–3,000 per move |
| 3-bedroom apartment | AED 3,000–4,500 per move |
| Small office (about 5 to 15 desks) | AED 3,000–7,000 per move |
| Move permit or lift booking fee | up to AED 500 one-off |
JLT moving questions
Does DMCC issue the move permit in JLT?
DMCC governs the JLT community, but it does not publish a single move permit. Your tower's building management approves the move and books the service lift, so start there.
What should I tell movers about my JLT address?
The cluster letter, the tower name, your floor and which car park entrance leads to the service lift. Many JLT towers look alike from the road, and a wrong entrance costs lift time.
What does a studio move in JLT cost?
A studio usually costs AED 800–1,200 to move and a 1-bedroom AED 1,200–1,800. Check whether the quote includes packing and taking furniture apart.
