JLT Move-In Permit: How Moves Work Under DMCC

Who approves a move in JLT

The JLT frequently asked questions on DMCC’s JLT site explain that the community is managed under DMCC’s governance framework. They do not describe a move permit. Each tower has its own management, and that is who approves moves, holds any damage deposit and controls the service lift and loading bay.

This is closer to a stand-alone tower than to a gated villa community, so the building NOC guide describes the approval in more detail. This page covers what is particular to JLT.

How to get the tower’s approval

  1. Find the facility manager’s office

The tower reception or security desk can tell you who manages the building and how move requests are made: a paper form, an email or an online portal.

  2. Ask for the move-in or move-out form

Note the documents it lists and any fee or deposit. Tenants are usually asked for Ejari and Emirates ID; owners for the title deed.

  3. Get your landlord’s part done

For a move-out, many towers want the owner’s confirmation that the tenancy has ended. Ask the landlord early so it does not hold up the date.

  4. Book the lift slot and loading point

Agree the date, start time and how long the slot lasts. Ask where the truck should stop; in some clusters the loading point is not at the tower entrance.

  5. Send everything to the mover

Forward the approval, slot times, lift size and loading point. The mover may need to send its trade licence and crew IDs to the tower.

What to ask your facility manager

  • Which documents do you need from me, and from the moving company?
  • Is there a permit fee or a refundable deposit, and how and when is it refunded?
  • What are the moving hours, and how long is one lift slot?
  • What are the service lift’s inside dimensions and door height?
  • Where does the truck park and load, and is there a height limit at the car park entrance?
  • Does the lift need protective padding, and who fits it?
  • Will there be an inspection of the lift and corridors before and after the move?

Write the answers down and send them to every mover you ask for a quote. Quotes are only comparable when each mover has priced the same access.

Moving day in JLT

JLT’s towers sit around artificial lakes in lettered clusters, with Sheikh Zayed Road on one side. Under the RTA rules in force from 1 October 2026, trucks may not use Sheikh Zayed Road between 6 am and 10 pm, so ask the mover how its truck will reach the cluster and leave again within your lift slot. The rules are on the RTA truck restrictions page.

Keep the lift slot realistic: a mover that overruns may have to stop when the slot ends and finish on another day. For a larger flat, ask the tower whether two consecutive slots can be booked.

JLT permit questions

Does DMCC issue the move-in permit for JLT?

DMCC governs the JLT community, but its JLT site does not publish a move-in permit process for residents. In practice the request goes to your tower’s management (the owners association or facility manager), which also books the service lift.

How much is a JLT move permit?

There is no single published JLT fee; each tower sets its own. Where Dubai towers charge for a move permit or lift booking, published price guides put it at up to AED 500, and some buildings hold a refundable deposit, typically AED 1,000 to 2,000 (typical ranges, checked October 2026).

How far ahead should I book a move in JLT?

Ask your tower, because there is no JLT-wide rule. Request the slot as soon as your Ejari is registered, and earlier near month-end when many leases start and the service lift is busy.

Do all JLT towers use the same system?

No. Towers are managed separately, so the form, documents and slot lengths differ from tower to tower, even within one cluster. Some services run through DMCC’s community portal; your facility manager will say whether yours does.
