How to work out how many boxes you need
Count by storage, not by bedroom. Open each kitchen cupboard, wardrobe, bookshelf and storeroom and estimate how many boxes of the right size its contents would fill; the kitchen and the bookshelves usually need the most. Add the total, then add a spare pack for last-minute things.

Carton suppliers sell boxes, tape and bubble wrap in bulk, often with delivery. Compare the box size in centimetres and whether it is single or double wall, not just the name "medium".
Hardware stores and online marketplaces
Handy for a few boxes and tape. Delivery charges can outweigh the saving on small orders.
Second-hand boxes
People who have just moved often give away boxes. Use only dry, clean, strong boxes, and avoid boxes that held food, which can bring pests into your home.
