Before you leave Abu Dhabi
Agree the handover date with your landlord and close or move your electricity and water account with TAQA Distribution, which replaced ADDC and AADC in January 2025. Ask your Abu Dhabi building for its move-out approval and lift booking, and give your mover the time it allows.
If the Dubai home is not ready on the day you leave, ask for a quote with storage in between rather than two separate moves.
Arriving in Dubai: Ejari, DEWA and the move-in permit
Register Ejari as soon as the lease is signed: AED 177.75 in total through the Dubai REST app or website, or AED 220 at a trustee centre. After Ejari, DEWA emails and texts your contract account number and deposit request; the deposit is AED 2,000 for a flat or AED 4,000 for a villa. Pick your Dubai community guide
Tower districts and villa communities move very differently. If you are heading for a tower, read Dubai Marina, Business Bay or JLT; for a villa, Arabian Ranches or Dubai Hills Estate. Sheikh Zayed Road is closed to trucks from 6 am to 10 pm from 1 October 2026, so ask your mover how it will reach your new address.
