Before you move: accounts tied to the home

These accounts belong to the property, not to you, so they are closed at one address and opened at the other. Do them before moving day so the new home has power, water and internet when you arrive.

Official charges checked in October 2026 with DLD, DEWA, du and e&.

The step-by-step version, with the order to do them in, is in the utilities guide. du’s steps are on its home relocation page and e&’s on its Home Move page.

First week: work, money and family

  • Employer HR: address for payroll and medical insurance, and for your residency file if the company sponsors your visa.
  • Banks and credit cards: update in the banking app; card statements and new cards are sent to the address on file.
  • Home contents insurance: a policy usually covers one address, so move it to the new home before moving day or take out a new one.
  • Schools and nurseries: both the old and the new school, so records and transport routes are right.
  • Investment, pension and gratuity accounts: anything that sends statements by post.

Your car

  • Community access: register the car with the new community or building so the access card or number-plate recognition works. DHCM, for example, asks for vehicles to be registered before it issues access cards.
  • Car insurance: tell the insurer where the car is now parked.
  • Salik and parking: check the contact details on your Salik account and any residents’ parking permit linked to the old address.

Health

  • Health insurer: update the address on the policy, and check which clinics near the new home are in the network.
  • Clinic, dentist and pharmacy: update your record, or ask for your file to be transferred if you change clinic.
  • Repeat prescriptions: move them to a pharmacy near the new home before you run out.

Deliveries and subscriptions

  • Shopping and food delivery apps: delete the old address so orders do not go there by default, and drop a precise pin for the new one.
  • Grocery and water delivery: change the address and the delivery days.
  • Gym, laundry, cleaning and pet services: cancel or move them.
  • PO box: if you use one, nothing changes, but tell senders who used your street address.

Change of address questions

Is there one place to change my address in Dubai?

No. Each account is updated separately. The ones linked to the property itself, Ejari, DEWA, district cooling and home internet, are closed at the old address and opened at the new one. Banks, insurers, your employer and delivery apps are updated one by one.

How do I change the address on my DEWA account?

DEWA accounts belong to the premises, so you do not change the address on an existing account. You request a move-out at the old home and get a new contract account for the new home, which DEWA sends after your new Ejari is completed.

How do I change my du or e& internet address?

du calls it Home Relocation (in the du app or My Account, AED 100 on the next bill). e& calls it Home Move (in the e& UAE app under Manage, AED 150 plus 5% VAT). Both move your existing service to the new address.

Do I need to tell my employer I moved?

Yes. HR keeps your address for payroll, medical insurance and, where the company sponsors your visa, your residency file. Ask HR whether anything else needs updating at the same time.
